Put every recovery care charge on paper

What does recovery care cost?

This guide cannot give you a reliable price or price range for recovery care. Ask the service to put its quote in writing, with each charge for the proposed care shown separately.

Questions to work through

  • Separate care fees from medicine.

Ask whether there is a monthly care fee and whether medicine costs extra. In the small sample checked September 26, 2026, online weight-care offers commonly charged monthly care fees plus a separate medicine bill.

These were weight-care offers, not recovery-care prices. Use this example to ask about separate charges, not to estimate your bill.

  • Ask what else is billed.

Ask about the initial assessment, later visits, medicine, delivery and any tests. Put “included” or “extra” beside each item. Do not assume the advertised price covers them all.

  • Compare the same kind of price.

Ask which price you qualify for and what you would actually pay. Prices for branded weight and diabetes medicines, checked September 26, 2026, came in different kinds. A maker’s published price may differ from its cash offer or a discount-card price. The patient’s share with insurance and prices under government programs are different again.

For a covered expense, a copay is the patient’s share.

How an opening medicine price can rise

This is a diabetes medicine example, not a recovery-care quote. The amount in a dose is called the medicine’s strength. A government page checked September 26, 2026 advertised semaglutide (Ozempic): the first two monthly supplies cost $199 apiece. Only two starting prescription strengths qualified; ask the pharmacist whether your exact prescription fits the offer.

The offer was for new patients aged 18 or over living in the US and paying cash, through December 31, 2026. Depending on the prescribed strength, later monthly prices were $349 or $499. People with insurance using this cash offer could not ask their insurer to repay them or count the cost toward the amount they pay before insurance starts paying.

Ask what your own bill becomes after any opening offer ends.

Keep a total you can compare

Request the first payment, the ongoing payment and the cost of leaving the plan in writing. Use the same time period for each offer you compare.

Notes for this question

  • Government page: a time-limited offer

This supports the named drug price example, not a price estimate for recovery care.

  • Note on care fees

The membership observation uses a small sample of advertised weight-care fees; it is not a national average.
